Community Nursing
Community Nursing is a NDIS support to assist people with disabilities or chronic conditions with a range of healthcare tasks, including medication management, wound care, catheter care, monitoring of vital signs, and personal care.
NDIS-registered Enrolled Nurses work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and support.
This type of support requires a medical assessment first to effectively address the individual’s needs and develop a tailored care plan.
The following services may be covered under Community Nursing:
- Administration of medication on a daily basis
- Assistance with managing behavioural needs
- Management of enteral feeding tubes
- Treatment of complex wounds
- Care for tracheostomies
- Management of urinary catheters
- Administration of injections
- Assistance with complications related to bowel care
- Provision of medical services such as ventilation or home enteral feeding.
